The Chief of Defence staff Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim has appraised the security situation in the country and commended the military for living up to expectations while advising Nigerians to be mindful of countries that may be sponsoring terrorism. The CDS said this while answering questions at the 5th edition of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Day Run at the Aguiyi Ironsi sports complex Guards Brigade Headquarters, Asokoro, Abuja.

He said that some foreigners are bent on tarnishing the image of the country by spreading unpleasant news to make the country unsafe for other foreigners but that the security operatives were doing their best which will be appreciated with time. Ibrahim said that the measures being taken are handled with secrecy so that the aim will not be defeated.

The presidency in the meantime has ordered the security agencies to collaborate and put measures in place to prevent any further abduction of foreigners in the country. Part of the measures to be taken will include raids on relaxation spots and perceived hideouts for criminals.
