Plateau state has 621 card readers that will be kept as standby in case any of the card readers in use develop a fault. This was stated by the Resident Electoral commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state at a sensitization program for stakeholders on the forth coming general elections.

Kwanga said that any card reader that develops a problem will be replaced and elections will be suspended till Friday if the commission is unable to replace the card readers. He said that the commission was hopeful that no card reader will develop a problem as they have been tested. The REC stated that People can still collect their PVCs up till the close of work on Wednesday.

The program which had all the security chiefs in the state advised people to be vigilant and peaceful during and after the elections while stressing the trouble makers will be dealt with. Major General David Enetie who is Special Task Force (STF) Commander and Director of Department of Security Services (DSS), Kunle Ajanaku addressed participants on security preparedness and how to maintain the peace.
