The Vice Chancellor Plateau State University Bokkos Professor Yohana Daniel Izam has again bagged an Award as Living Hero in Academic World and a best performing State Vice Chancellor from the Citizens Right and Leadership Awareness Initiative in collaboration with Oduduwa Watch News Online in the Plateau State Living Hero Award 2019.

Presenting the Award to the Vice Chancellor at Silk Suit Hotel Rayfield, Jos Plateau State on Thursday, Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, Mr. Oladipo Musibau said the event is an Initiative to restore dignity of labour, integrity and motivate Nigerian Icons who should be identified and celebrated while alive instead of placing beautiful epitaphs on their tombs in death; a time they would not personally appreciate the value attracted to their years of kindness or philanthropic addition to the society or the Community they are serving or once served.

According to the organisers, the selection of Professor Izam was due to his selfless service and the provision of academic leadership as a university don, his dogged disposition on standardization and above all the uplifting Plateau State University Bokkos as an emerging competitive brands in Nigeria’s tertiary education enterprise.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the organizers for finding him worthy for such great honour which he dedicated it to God, Plateau State and the University.
The VC who was represented by the Dean, Students Affairs of the University Dr. Jurji Gomos said the award will spur him to continue to contribute immensely to the development of the education sector as well as ensure that Plateau State University is rated among the best Universities in the country. He added that with the accreditation of its courses by the National Universities Commission (NUC) the institution is poised for a better position of academic excellence.

“Plateau State University has now become an important asset, a centre of academic excellence and research incubation not only to the state and its people, but also to the entire nation. Basically, the strategic location of the university for manpower development and the critical sectors of the economy can only come about as a result of the right support from the state university in terms of projects and community activities”
“We are also talking about possibility of new programmes such as agriculture and ICT incurbator, which will impact positively on our agrarian communities across the state. So, the university is poised to increase the number of academic programmes and platforms for innovations.

He assures of his leadership focus of uplifting of the Plateau State University Bokkos as an emerging competitive brand in the country.

Others who also received different categories of Awards include: Member Representing Barkin Ladi/ Riyom Federal Constituency and Senator Elect. Plateau North, Hon. Istifanus Gyang, Plateau State Coordinator of Fadama III Project, Chief Gideon Dandam, Management Committee Chairman Riyom LGA Da Hon. Emmanuel Danboyi Jugul, Chairman Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board Prof. Matthew Sule, and Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Joshua Izang Madaki .
