Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Barrister Simon Lalong, has expressed disappointments with the leadership style of Governor Jonah Jang. Lalong said for the entire period of Jang’s rulership of the state, it has been disappointment all the way. He accused the Jang administration for abandoning the Solomon Daushep Lar University established by the past government of Chief Joshua dariye in 2006.
He said it is more annoying that since its establishment, the Institute is neither accredited nor graduated any student. Lalong made these lamentation while addressing members of the Nigeria Bar Association for Jos and Pankshin zones on his programmes and aspirations if he becomes the next governor of Plateau State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He said the poor conditions of the education, health and other sectors of the state under Jang’s regime would not continue under him.
He said he will give priority to all sectors and mobilize technocrats to enable the university return to session. He reiterated his commitment to the right and justice of the people, saying he will be accountable and ensure equitable distribution of state resources to the people. He promised to make the judiciary an independent arm.
He accused the state government of denying the judiciary the much needed financial autonomy and that it has created division among the three arms of government in the state. “Again, it is sheer wickedness for a man not paying staff salaries of workers,” Lalong said. Earlier, the Chairman of the Legal Department of the Simon Lalong /Prof. Sunny Tyoden Campaign Organization, Barrister Jonathan Mawuyau, noted that the absence of justice would always create chaotic situation in any society. Mawuyau challenged those in authority to create an atmosphere for peace to reign in the land.
