The Plateau state police command has fired warning shots in the air to contain candidates wishing to sit the Monday’s Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in Jos.

A source from JAMB office said the policemen were called to maintain law and order when the candidates became unruly.

The candidates had earlier gathered at the office to collect details of their examination centres but were told to leave their slips and come back later which didn’t go down well with the students leading to a protest.

The policemen fired shots in the air and the candidates scampered for safety with some of them running onto the busy Murtala Muhammed way close by.

Plateau state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Emmanuel Abuh when contacted said that the police was called upon to maintain law and order when the candidates became unruly.
