In its efforts to ensure a violent free political transition, candidates of different political parties, in the 2015 general elections, were on Tuesday committed into signing a violence free peace-pact by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, Nasiru Oki.

Oki said the Police are ever ready to deploy security personnel in all the polling units across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State.

Oki advised all the political parties against bridging the electoral law, while appealing to politicians to warned their supporters against post election violence.

Oki advised all the political parties against bridging the electoral law, while appealing to politicians to warned their supporters against post election violence.

The Police Chief added that, the police will not hesitate to arrest anyone found trying to cause chaos.
He also advised that, proper information should reach the security agencies before embarking on electioneering rallies.

The Police Commissioner warned against coming to voting centers with arms.

Speaking at the venue Governorship Candidate of ADC Alhaji Sabiu Musa, said politicians should be their brothers’ keepers but not killers.

He said:”Leadership is ordained by God, and if He has ordained Sabiu so it will, or Simon or Pwajok. I therefore urge that we all should play safe”.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Governorship Candidate Hon. Simon Lalong, alleged that some group of people are going about collecting PVCs, and were telling them that a “soft loan” will be granted them in the State.

On his part, the Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon .Titus Alams appreciated the Commissioner of Police for deeming its fit to embark on the peace process before the election and beyond.

He further urged the Police boss to escalate the peace sensitization campaign to the Mosques, Churches, Communities, as well as youth leaders across the State.

Alams warned that politicians should understand that they can only rule people that are alive not corpses.

In his remarks, the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Gyang Pwajok, represented by Hon. Simon Tangni, said the campaigns had been peaceful and that the peace accord will also help to reduce violence.

He appealed to the opposition parties to caution their supporters against inflammatory statement capable of bridging the peaceful co-existence in the State.
