Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the fortunes of the People’s Democratic Party in Plateau state appears to be going from bad to worse, following the establishment of a parallel party structure by a group of aggrieved politicians.

In a press statement signed by several of the aggrieved politicians, including Former Governor – Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun, Former PDP Chairman – Dr Haruna Dabin, Former Federal Permanent Secretary – Arc. John Alikali, Former Director at FCDA – Engr. Jimmy Cheto, Former Senator Representing Plateau South – Hon. Victor Lar,  Mr. Godfrey Miri and Mr. Chris Bature (who were all gubernatorial aspirants in the last PDP primaries), they unanimously affirmed that their decision to form a parallel party structure was because Governor Jonah Jang has hijacked the State’s Party’s structure and was running it as though it was his personal estate.

The group said it has constituted what it calls the Reformed Peoples Democratic Party with its secretariat along Helen Gomwalk road, Jos – with a nine member pro-tem executive structure with Ambassador Ibrahim Kasai as Chairman. It says it stands to resist the injustice of candidate imposition by the state governor and party executives, saying that the newly constituted structure shall not work for or mobilise its constituents for the ruling party because of the gross injustice meted out to Plateau state.
