Plateau  State Tertiary Institutions strike- Government’s failed to honor the agreements reached

Plateau state tertiary Institutions have declared an indefinite strike.Viewpointnigeria gathered  that On the 18th of January 2016 the Lalong led govt signed an out of court agreement with the Unions SUIT NO/NICN/ABJ/320/2012 to among other things offset the 5months No-work-no-pay salaries accumulated by the previous administration. The agreement was to elapse on 31st December 2017.

While the government reneged to spread the payment as agreed, were spread to December 2017, it quickly paid two months in December living a 3 month unpaid. The Unions again signed an internal agreement with the government to spread the balance of payment between April 2018 to July 2018 but the later still failed to honor the said agreement.

 
In a statement issued exclusively to Viewpoint Nigeria, comrade Luka Panpe said that the Unions took the decision to embark on the strike as a result of government’s failure to honor the agreements reached with the unions . He said that the unions demonstrated patience and understanding but the government was quick to abuse the gesture.

viewpointNigeria is still yet to connect any government official to comment on the situation but the students awaits the stakeholders to remember their rights to education.
