RE: OUR DEMAND FOR A CREDIBLE GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY ELECTION

Some aspirants in the just concluded PDP guber primary election in Plateau State held a press conference in Jos today, calling for the outright cancellation of exercise which held in a transparent manner.

The said aspirants who claimed to have signed for and on behalf of all the other aspirants made the call for the cancelation on the basis of the following:

a. Violation of the accreditation process;

b. Inability to ascertain and announce the number of accredited delegates;

Some aspirants in the just concluded PDP guber primary election in Plateau State held a press conference in Jos today, calling for the outright cancellation of exercise which held in a transparent manner.

The said aspirants who claimed to have signed for and on behalf of all the other aspirants made the call for the cancelation on the basis of the following:

a. Violation of the accreditation process;

b. Inability to ascertain and announce the number of accredited delegates;

c. Aspirants were not briefed and their agents were not accredited;

d. Infiltration of the venue by thugs and the breakdown of order; and

e. Violation of the voting process.

One wonders why at a time when all well meaning and good spirited members of the PDP are at the National Convention in Abuja, some members of the party stayed back to play out their wicked and devilish script aimed at creating disenchantment in Plateau State.

It is public information that the aggrieved aspirants have done everything possible to stop the primaries from holding; to try to reduce the credibility of the process at this time is nothing more than the shouts of a drowning group.

The attempt to stop the accreditation from starting at the stipulated time was as a result of the many roadblocks by the same group crying foul. At the venue for the primary election, it was glaring that all agents were not only accredited but given all the access to information including conferring with the electoral committee at different times. In fact, some agents signed the result sheets after collation, counting and announcement of the results.

Contrary to what transpired in all the other States, the electoral panel chairman agreed that the labels on the ballot boxes be removed; only 3 ballot boxes were used as against the initial arrangement of 17 for each local government; the delegates list got from the accreditation of delegates was used for voting, and the venue had enough lighting to host any event.

This press conference is a deliberate attempt by these aspirants to mislead the national body and as Plateau Youth who are ready to defend our heritage, which these same self acclaimed elders have raped, we would do whatever is within our powers and the ambit of the law to insist that the right thing is done.

No individual or group of individuals will intimidate us into allowing them scuttle what was a very credible and transparent exercise.
We call on the National body of the PDP to appeal to good conscience and throw the said petition to where it belongs, the dust bin. These people have never determined the success of the party, they fought against you in 2011, yet you had a resounding success, this time is not different be assured of even greater success.
