Jerry Useni Condemns attack on the Plateau, decries security complicity.

CONDEMNATION OF KILLINGS IN PLATEAU

Plateau State has again sunk into a state of blood bath as a result of the distatly acts of the killer herdsmen. These merchants of deaths have slaughtered about 200 innocent citizens in Barakin Ladi, Bokkos, Riyom, and parts of Jos-South and Bassa Local Government Areas.

We wish to express our deepest sympathies to the bereaved communities and relations, in particular and Plateau people in general, over this inhuman and criminal behaviour. We pray that the good Lord will give them the fortitude to bear the burdens and losses.

We are, however, constrained to attribute these serial activities of these killers and their cohorts to the clear incompetence of the State Government in responding to these intolerable incidences. Further, the security apparati cannot be absolved from blame of culpability as some of the killings are carried not far from some security check points. In addition, the ease with which these killers operate, point to a clear case of gross negligence and collusion.

We condemn this act in its entirety, and we wish to note that government has clearly demonstrated their unwillingness to protect life and property in Plateau State-which is a constitutional requirement. We equally condemn the setting of road blocks and killing of innocent passengers who may not have anything to do or share in the genesis of the activities of these killers.

The current mayhem is one more barbarism too many for the tolerance of a peace-loving people. While we share in this grief with the immediate communities who have lost their dear ones and property, we commend them for their resilience and good behaviour-which have, for long been taken for granted.

May the LORD God have mercy on us all and protect our God given land. We should always remember that when “you do good you see good.”
