Villagers accuse security operatives of forcing mass burials in order to reduce number of dead

News reaching us indicates that security who had for the past two days prevented villagers from retrieving the corpses of their loved ones, are currently encouraging villagers to hurriedly bury the dead as precondition for them accessing medical supplies for their injured ones.

The villagers who were banned from taking and circulating pictures of corpses in a bid to contain the extent of killings are now being prevailed upon to bury all the dead in the heat of the night, so that the casualty number which has already been reported as up to 200, can ultimately be disputed.

Investigations reveal that the Berom Education and Cultural Association in conjunction with the Berom Youth Moulder Association had demanded that all corpse be deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital for proper burial preparations, but this has been denied by soldiers stationed in the various areas of the localities.

This night at 9pm, many villagers who spoke to ViewPointNigeria on phone confirmed that they have been prevailed upon to bury all the dead instead of preparing them for a state funeral service.
