The silence in the Plateau political scene is eerie and sinister, that it can almost be felt in the entire Nigerian federation. For the first time in the history of the state, PDP has held its cards very close to its chest (not revealing it to anyone) -even as there is barely 6 weeks to the commencement of primaries.
In previous dispensations (e.g., 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011), the leanings of the government was clear to the electorate and therefore enabled voters to clearly assess the candidates and make informed decisions about whom to vote or not.

However at this moment, the situation is radically different -pin drop silence, akin to what you’d find in a graveyard pervades the plateau political space. No one knows whom the PDP will field, all interested candidates appear scared to signify their interest (like Haruna Dabin) and as such they keep denying their interest, in fear of drawing the ire of the leadership.
This situation is undoubtedly disadvantageous to Plateau! The ruling party must realise that the collective interest of Plateau comes before any other interest, so people must not attempt to shortchange voters by using gimmicky tricks. It is a fact that because the PDP is the government of the day, it dictates the political tune in the build up to the 2015 elections. Their choice of candidate will affect whom the other political parties select and as such if they do not clearly demonstrate their choice, a similar fate will befall other parties in the state -like we are seeing in Plateau today.
In this regard therefore, we call on PDP to demonstrate the equity, like they have always demonstrated over the past few years by saying clearly where the leanings are and not attempt to shortchange the Plateau electorate.
