The youth wing of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Plateau State chapter, and the entire Tarok Nation has condemned in totality the attack on the residence of their leader, Gen. Jeremiah Useni, describing it as unwarranted and condemnable by all law abiding citizens of the country.

Addressing journalists in Jos yesterday, the youth leader, Mr Oscar Nanmwa recalled that the PDP government in Plateau State had imposed a chairman on them who did not win the February 25 Langtang North local government election and was sworn in after PDP had gone to court to seek an order of mandamus which was thrown out for lack of merit by the court.

Addressing journalists in Jos yesterday, the youth leader, Mr Oscar Nanmwa recalled that the PDP government in Plateau State had imposed a chairman on them who did not win the February 25 Langtang North local government election and was sworn in after PDP had gone to court to seek an order of mandamus which was thrown out for lack of merit by the court.

“Despite this open and unwarranted provocation by not allowing the will of the people as expressed during the election to prevail, we remain calm and law abiding and heeded the appeal of our leaders, especially Gen. JT Useni, Gen. JN Temlong and Chief Dan Dul, who urged us to remain calm since the matter is before the election petition tribunal and we should not do anything that will jeopardise the course of justice.”

The youths stressed that they were shocked and saddened by the unwarranted attack on the house of their leader last Wednesday, and expressed the hope that it was not an attempt to silence the opposition by cowardly intimidating them in the state.

“We will resist any such attempt and will not be intimidated by whatsoever means as we urge the state government to take immediate steps to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.”

DPP youth wing further appealed to the government to resist the attempt of giving tacit or passive acquiescence to those who believes they are above the law and can do anything to achieve their aims adding that this will not augur well for our attempt to entrenched Democracy and good governance in the country, but a sure recipe to anarchy.

Meanwhile the Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Godwin Nanmwa Kumzhi has dismissed insinuation in some quarter that it was PDP that carried out the attack on the residence of Gen. JT Useini in Langtang North LGC.

He also condemned the assassination attempt by unknown gunmen in the area describing its as undemocratic and uncivilized stressing the commitment of the Local government in pursuing of peace, Justice and equity for all.

Hon Kumzhi who stated this while speaking to newsmen in Jos said such act was capable of plunging a local government into crisis.
