Plateau State government has approved over N7 billion for the building of a resettlement development housing scheme at Bukuru, the headquarters of Jos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It will also embark on roads’ construction and building of bridges in parts of the state before the end of Jang’s tenure as governor. The housing scheme is meant for those that were to be affected by the construction of Kugiya market and the ongoing road network within the area including other roads being constructed by the state government within the locality.

Plateau State government has approved over N7 billion for the building of a resettlement development housing scheme at Bukuru, the headquarters of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It will also embark on roads’ construction and building of bridges in parts of the state before the end of Jang’s tenure as governor. The housing scheme is meant for those that were to be affected by the construction of Kugiya market and the ongoing road network within the area including other roads being constructed by the state government within the locality.

The approval of housing scheme and road construction and rehabilitation as well as building of bridges in the state was the outcome of the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Jonah David Jang of plateau at the state weekly council meeting.

The state Commissioner for Information, Olivia Dazyem, who addressed the media after the state executive council meeting, disclosed that over N1.5 billion was earmarked to build various housing schemes which include one, two and three bed rooms to Kugiya displaced for occupation incase they don’t accept monetary compensation. The Plateau Information commissioner said the allocation of the houses would depend on the assessment of their existing personal buildings by the committee that was set up by the state government to verify their legitimacy.

She noted that the contracting firm, Non Stock Investment, would handle the building of the proposed houses at the cost of N343 million .

It would consist of external electric works, external mechanics works, street lighting back up for two number one bedrooms buildings.

According to her, Diffo Limited has been given a go-ahead to handle the construction of one block of three bed rooms with one police outpost at the cost of over N300 million while the state executive council had given to Mina Investment Limited the contract to build a one-bed room of 20 at the cost of over N296 million including the building of 17 numbers ,one bed room, 2 number two bed rooms at the cost of over N289 million to Cardip Dalvo Limited.

Dayzem further disclosed that Grandaunt Project Limited was expected to handle the construction of five one bedrooms and 6 number of 2 bedrooms including part of fencing of the premises at the cost of N302 million with additional works considered on the construction of the new Government House complex at little Rayfield to include the swimming pool, a Chapel, sports facilities and fire station workshop and water treatment plant at a total cost of over one billion naira. Dazyem further disclosed that the state executive council had approved additional works for the contruction of Amma street, Mallam Kure, Fatima church and Gangere, Rikkos road net work including the rehabilitation of Idika street, off Apata main road.
