Reports reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that three separate attacks were recorded in Plateau state today – Wednesday 24th January 2018. Herdsmen were said to have launched guerilla attacks on farming settlements in Riyom LGA, Bokkos (Daffo) and Bassa (Jebu Miango).

The Jebu-Miango (Bassa) attack was most unfortunate, because it happened only 3 hours after a high powered security meeting was held between Irigwe and Fulani youths, where solutions for peaceful coexistence were proffered.

In Bassa LGA 

In the Jebu Miango attack which happened at 7pm this evening, 2 people were said to have been killed as suspected herdsmen launched a clandestine attack on unsuspecting natives. The dead sustained gunshot wounds which killed them instantly. Killed were Mangwa James (52 years old) and Sunday Gani (38 years old). Others who sustained fatal injuries include: Daniel Abba (29 years), Friday Ira (26 years), Weyi Gado (32 years) and Guriya Sunday (28 years).

This attack took the entire community unawares, because it happened a few hours after a landmark security parley was held between the Irigwe and Fulani communities, where an understanding was reached and several solutions put forward. In Riyom

In Riyom, the story was the same – yet to be confirmed casualties were reported as herdsmen pounced on people returning from a neigbouring village in the Tashek, Jop village of the LGA.

In Bokkos

Earlier this afternoon at 1pm, herdsmen invaded Josho village in Daffo district of Bokkos LGA burning several houses and destroying property worth billions of Naira. NAN report that 3 people were killed in this attacked which happened near a block moulding site. The police commissioner in Plateau state confirmed the attack and casualties, stating that the dead were already taken to a mortuary in Jos.
