Aminu Zang Advises PLASIEC Against Shifting Date Of LG Polls

Jos – As Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) continues to maintain silence over whether it would conduct the local government poll on February 18th or not as scheduled, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the commission not to shift the election.

Hon Aminu Zang, the Jos North PDP candidate in the forth coming election challenged the electoral umpire to ensure it keep to the time table it issued on the conduct of local government polls in the state.

Zang in an interview with INDEPENDENT in Jos on the rumors of fresh plans to post pone the local polls for the second time said that candidates of various political parties and electorate should not be given any reason to doubt the sincerity of the state government through PLASIEC, to conduct elections into Local government councils in the state.

According to him, the PDP and its members in the state are prepared for the poll and determined this time around to also take the two seats of Jos North, and Jos North- West at the state House of Assembly election in 2019.

According to him, the party which lost the 2015 governorship election in the state, has put the setback behind it. He maintained that the party has been rejuvenated and restructured to correct the mistakes of 2015 in the forth coming local government council elections in February 2018.

Zang who was a one time Local government Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs during Governor Joshua Dariye administration in Plateau State is now the Peoples Democratic Party Chairmanship candidate for the Jos North local government elections slated for February 2018.

According to him, the people of his local government and other 16 councils in the state wish to join league of other states in having democratically elected governments at the local government councils in the state.

He said, ‘’Interim committee chairmen and their members do not owe allegiance to anybody but their appointee to the determent and chagrin of the suffering masses as they made no promises hence no obligation to
