Miffed by what they described as insensitivity to their plight by President Goodluck Jonathan, the people of Southern Kaduna in Kaduna State, said on Thursday they would not vote for him in 2015.

This, they said, was because the President had not shown enough commitment towards stopping killings in the area.Three villages of Ugwar Sankwai, Ungwar Gata and Chenshyi, all in Kaura Local Government Area of the state were penultimate Saturday attacked by unknown gunmen who killed over 100 residents and destroyed property worth millions of naira.

Under the Concerned Realists of Southern Kaduna, they asked the President to forget nursing the ambition of contesting the 2015 presidential election because they would not vote for him.

The Concerned Realists of Southern Kaduna comprises lecturers, technocrats, retired military officers and retired civil servants from the southern part of the state.

The leader of the group, Dr. John Danfulani, while addressing a news conference in Kaduna over the killing of over 100 villagers, said Jonathan did not care for the people of the area and therefore must not expect their votes in 2015 if he eventually signify his intention to contest the Presidency.

“President Jonathan does not care and therefore does not deserve the votes of the bleeding Southern Kaduna people in 2015,” he said.

He added that “We cannot allow politicians take our existence for granted. We will mobilise our people to vote against Governor Ramalan Yero, Namadi Sambo and Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 as a protest against their insensitivity to the killings in Southern Kaduna and their failure to honour our dead who have been slaughtered under their stewardship.”

According to Danfulani, after series of critical study of the genocide ravaging the Southern Kaduna region of Kaduna State since the 2011 post-election violence to date, the people of the area had no reason to vote for any PDP aspirant again.

He said,

“Notwithstanding the fact that the Vice President is the former Governor of Kaduna State, the government that President Jonathan leads both at the state and the Federal levels have not shown any sympathy or concern over these gruesome crimes.”There has not been even a whimper of sympathy from the Presidency and the Vice President has never visited or sent representation to any of the victims in the over 51times that we have been attacked.

“Already food security is now a serious issue, arising from the abandoned farmlands and the deliberate destruction of crops and harvested food barns by the attackers. It is apparent that we have been targeted for persecution and extinction by powerful forces and that the government under Yero, Sambo and Jonathan appears unconcerned and or helpless.”

Meanwhile, Yero has said that his administration can no longer fold its arm, and allow attack on innocent citizens of the state.

The governor, who said this at an emergency meeting with traditional rulers in the state on Thursday, expressed concern over the incessant killings in the state.

The governor said,

“I invited you as traditional leaders because of the attacks in Moroa Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area and other similar attacks in Brinin Gwari and Giwa, which calls for immediate action.”
