The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has been conferred with the Prestigious Fellowship Award of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) at the National Induction Ceremony of the Institute held at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017.
The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators is the Professional Body saddled with the training of individuals and organizations on Mediation as a Primary Mechanism for addressing disputes.
According to the President of the Institute, Mr Emeka Jude Philipe Obegolu, the Governor is being acknowledged and honoured for his Proactive Initiatives in promoting peace and the depth of knowledge applied in the Governance of Plateau State, which has consolidated on the Peace and Security of the State.
The Governor in his acceptance speech appreciated the Institute for finding him worthy of the Honour, which he dedicated to the good people of Plateau. He gave assurances that the Award will further strengthen his resolve and commitment in ensuring that every part of Plateau remains peaceful and free from any form of Security threat.
The Governor used the occasion of the Award to call on all Plateau citizens to partner with Government in the building of cohesive communities through social interactions and neighbourhood vigilance.
Present at the Award Ceremony which was well attended were Alh. Dr. Ibrahim Geidam, Governor of Yobe State, Mr Maikanti Baru, Group Managing Director of NNPC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu Chairman of INEC and Dr. Olarenwaju Onadeko SAN, Director General Nigeria Law School. Others are Chief wole Olanipekun, SAN, former President of Nigeria Bar Association and His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Owo amongst many other distinguished personalities.
