News reaching ViewPointNigeria suggests that the Governor of Plateau state, Dr. Jonah David Jang has approved with immediate effect, the payment of scholarship allowances to Plateau students under the aegis of National Association of Plateau State Students.
At the time of filing this report, payment of scholarship funds for several institutions within the state were said to be on the brink of commencing, however that of the University of Jos commenced on Monday the 2nd of June 2014 and took place at the Law auditorium. When ViewPointNigeria correspondent interviewed the NAPPS president, Comrade Hoomsuk Dabuk, he confirmed that the State Government had approved approx. N96 million as scholarhsip grants for Plateau students, but that so far 30 million had been released for this initial phase of payment, with concrete assurance from the state Government to disburse the balance of the funds shortly.

Payment at the University of Jos was done under high security because of the recent ills which have bedevilled the state and hundreds of University students thronged to receive the awards. Commenting about the gesture of the State Government, NAPSS Vice-President Comrade Enoch Vilret thanked the State Government for making education a priority through continous funding and then pleaded that the tempo be sustained.
