THE Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), under the leadership of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State, has described as callous, the assassination of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Muhammadu Idrissa Timta, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists last Friday.
In a statement issued by the administrator of the forum, Mr Osaro Onaiwu, on behalf of Governor Jang, in Abuja on Saturday, the NGF deplored the attack on the first class traditional ruler, saying that it was shocking and unfortunate.
Also involved in the attack by the insurgents were the Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ismaila Mamza and Emir of Askira, Alhaji Mai Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirama, all in Borno State, both of whom, however, escaped being killed.

All three royal fathers were on their way to Gombe State for the funeral of the late Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar, when they were ambushed along Tashan Alade, near Shaffa Town, in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
The NGF observed, “The incident is to say the least very shocking and unfortunate even as the late Emir was indeed a great man who worked very hard to promote peace and progress in Gwoza.”
The statement said Jang, on behalf of the forum, “condemns such dastardly acts in very strong terms. It is most irresponsible, despicable, and a clear case of callousness taken to extremity.”
