Four members of a family were on Wednesday killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen. The incident occurred in Wat village near Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau and is coming less than a week after two incidents of bomb blasts within Jos the state capital.
The family members were taking unawares as they were said to be asleep when the gunmen attacked. A villager said the gunmen invaded the village and shot to death the family members without any resistance from security operatives.

Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent Felicia Anselm confirmed the incident to newsmen and appealed for calm amongst the citizenry. She said that the force was doing all it could to track and arrest the perpetrators of the act.
Anselm said, “The police will not relent in its efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act. The commissioner has advised all divisional police officers to increase surveillance in their areas.”
It will be recalled that ViewPointNigeria reported of two bomb blasts that occurred close to the burnt terminus main market and a suicide bomb attack at a viewing centre close to Bauchi road in Jos.
