The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the implementation of open grazing law in Benue State.
The letter signed by MACBAN state chairman Muhammad Nura Abdullahi and made available to newsmen in Jos yesterday stated that the open grazing law in Benue State was a tactical approach to expel Fulani from Benue State. And that plans in Plateau for implementation of such a law could only lead to further escalation of troubles.
The group said the law was a well-orchestrated plan to frustrate the Hausa/Fulani community, and urged the Federal Government to intervene.
“We use this medium to call your good government of unity and love for all well-meaning Nigerians to do everything possible and curb these security challenges, especially the threat posed by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue and his government to innocent Fulani herdsmen,” the statement said.
