News reaching ViewPointNigeria from the Plateau state police command indicates a 27-year old cattle rustler has been arrested in Jos. The suspect known as Abdullahi Tanko was arrested with 14 cows in his possession.

Plateau state police commissioner, Chris Olakpe who was speaking in Jos said “Tanko, a resident of Makurdi, Benue, stole the cows in Jos”. He added that the suspect was arrested at the mining village of Naraguta with the stolen cows.

Plateau state police commissioner, Chris Olakpe who was speaking in Jos said “Tanko, a resident of Makurdi, Benue, stole the cows in Jos”. He added that the suspect was arrested at the mining village of Naraguta with the stolen cows.

He said “The suspect was arrested by the vigilante group of Angwan-Rogo at about 8.00pm on April 15. When the vigilante group accosted the suspect on where he was moving with the cows at that hour, he could not provide satisfactory answer. One Alhaji Yusuf Dahiru of Bauchi Ring road, Jos, had earlier lodged a complaint at Angwan-Rogo Police Station that 14 of his 74 cows had been stolen”.

Olakpe said that the stolen cows were identified by the complainant and that the suspect was assisting the police by providing useful information on cattle rustling in Plateau. He added that the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation.
