The Plateau state police command has arrested a 70 year old man for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect who is in police custody is said to be HIV positive and presently on the anti-retroviral drugs. The incident came to fore when the police were called upon after the suspect was caught in the act.

A witness said that the suspect confessed to the crime but later denied after some of his kinsmen told to deny raping the minor.

Confirming the incident, Plateau state police commissioner said that the 70 year old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl and is police custody at Barkin Ladi LGA but will soon be transferred to the force headquarters in Jos. He said that he will be charged to court after the investigation must have been completed.
