Lalong appoints Andong and six others to head Plateau Assembly Service Commission

Plateau state House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Hon. Banahel Andong as Chairman and six others as members of the State House of Assembly Service Commission.

The lawmakers during a special seating convened in response to a communication received from the executive governor Simon Bako Lalong screened and approved the seven names sent to the house for consideration.

Those presented for screening were: Hon. Banahel Andong as Chairman, while Hon. Stephen Dung Gwom, Yusha’u Mohammed Mazadu and Joseph Kwatmak Dilep as Members.

Others as: Hon Abubakar Yahaya Kanam, Hon Dina Lar and Hon. Da’a Ernest Abner.

Based on the standing rule rules of the legislative proceedings the four members of the commission who were former members of the state House of Assembly were to be taken a bow and leave, but members insisted that they should be given a chance to say a word, even as the house went ahead to screen and confirmed Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kanam by proxy.

Available information indicates that Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kanam was on medical trip abroad and the house insisted having been their own and a former deputy speaker in the state house of Assembly, his competent in not in doubt and he was as such cleared.

Meanwhile speaking with newsmen separately after being confirmed, the Chairman House of Assembly Service Commission, Banahel Andong and Dina Lar commended the state governor Simon Lalong for giving them an opportunity to serve in his administration.

They promised to put in their best to ensuring that the trust reposed in them is not betrayed, more so that they will be open to all and ensure that accountability is their watch word.
