In order to match words with action, work have started in earnest at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital few weeks after the State Governor Simon Lalong ,vowed to revamp the hospital and boost the health sector in the state . Our correspondent who visited the hospital on Wednesday observed that the hospital is currently undergoing renovation . It could be recalled that Lalong had last weekend said that, it would soon revamp the Plateau Specialists Hospital to meet with world standard in hospitals.
Governor Simon Lalong stated this while commissioning the end phase of Parkview Family Medicine Royal Hospital, Jos. He said “The state needed such investment as it would enhance health care development in the state”, as according to him, the state would always welcome anybody or any corporate organization that ants to invest in the state as it has provided modalities for such. Meanwhile a group Plateau Regeneration Group has commended the state Governor Simon Lalong for his efforts at boosting the health sector in the state.
The group in a statement Jointly signed by Nagelu Garba the President and Pius Hommen the Secretary said Lalong should be commended as on assumption of office in May 29th 2015 and in keeping to his campaign promises to his people, GovernorLalong mobilized to sites contractors handling the General hospitals in Riyom, Mabudi and Kanke. ” Also renovation works at General Hospital Shendam is almost at completion stage. “We commend Lalong for ordering the release of N10 million to the Jos university teaching hospital for operations to be carried out on ten children with various heart defects, payment of counterpart funds for UNICEF and World Bank health related programs particularly in the area of immunization and HIV/AIDS and procurement and distribution of ambulances to some hospitals.” “In addition to these laudable feats, the governor has come out with the idea of medical outreaches for indigent patients across the state on quarterly basis ” the statement further added.
