Plateau killings: More pictures of the hopelessness and despair of survivors

As the dust of the gruesome murder of people of Ancha village begins to settle, the stark reality of what they are up against is beginning to surface.

At the last count, up to 17 people had lost of their lives and scores injured with varying degrees of incapacitation and injury.

Those un-injured are still in shock at the sheer gruesomeness of the killings –many, very traumatised and shaken by the entire ordeal.

At the time of ViewPointNigeria’s visit to the area yesterday 8th September 2017, the level of hopelessness and despair was incredibly alarming. No government agencies or relief materials had reached the victims, with many in urgent need of medical supplies, food and warm clothing.

Our correspondent met a 5 year old boy, the only survivor of his family. His father, mother and sibling were all killed in the attack, but he managed to evade the raging gun fire. He remains desperately shaken and unable to comprehend what had happened, but was being taken care of by friends and relatives.

To bring succour to the victims, we are already reaching out to appropriate agencies and spirited individuals to muscle basic supplies for the desperate victims.
