Youths in Plateau have joined-in the condemnation of Governor Simon Lalong, in appointing a new set of Management Committee chairmen to oversee affairs of the 17 local government councils of Plateau state for the next few years.

Mr Dachung Bagos convener of the Plateau G17 initiative, speaking to ViewPointNigeria, condemned the appointment of another set of management committee chairmen. He said “Plateau citizens are being robbed of democracy, by elected governors who themselves do not believe in election but selections. He said, “How can you truncate the tenure of elected officers in 2015, appoint illegal management committee chairmen, and then further dissolve the illegal officers and undertake another illegality by appointing a new set”?

He called on the Federal Government to immediately come to the aid of Plateau by raining down on the governor to revered the undemocratic decision.

On 27^th June 2017, it will be recalled that Governor Simon Lalong dissolved the 17 management committee chairmen who held sway after elected council chairmen were sent packing in July 2015.

Many thought the sacking of the management committee chairmen of 29^th June 2017, heralded preparations for new elections and several analysts and observers had started commenting on the preparedness of PLASIEC to undertake the election –unbeknownst to them that the Governor was merely trying to consolidate his hold on power as 2019 fast approaches.
