Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has said over 70 percent of the certificates of occupancy he signed since he assumed office belong to the Igbo community.

“I had to call the Commissioner for Lands to ask him why it was so and to find out if the indigenous population had quit the state for the Igbo,” Lalong said while commending the Igbo community when they paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House.

A statement mailed to journalists by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, said Lalong appreciated the Igbo community for boosting and stabilizing the state’s economy and assured them of his commitment to ensure that no Igbo or any ethnic group in the state was molested or marginalized.
