Information reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that the activities of thieves who specialize in stealing car batteries in Jos are on the increase. This was made known by one of the victims Mr. williams Gyang a resident of Tudun Wada. ViewPoint Nigeria reports that Mr. Gyang had the battery of his car stolen in the middle of the night but luck ran out of the thieves as they were chased and apprehended by men of the Vigilante Group. In his message and made available to ViewPointNigeria, Mr. Gyang said

”With the recent rise in activities of the men of the underworld (Thieves), most Plateau citizens are calling on the Plateau state House of Assembly to enact laws that will punish offenders.

This is coming on the heels of recent cases of car battery theft which have become alarming and disheartening. A most recent case or cases of Battery theft has been reported largely in Tudun Wada, Angwan Rukuba, Hwolshe, Dadin Kowa and Abattoir areas of Jos north and south Local Government Area where citizens go to sleep and are been greeted in the morning with open Bonnet with empty Battery stand indicating that it was stolen last night by youths who are idle.

The Federal and State legislators should enact laws that will serve as deterrent to criminals and to better our society. Yes this will go a long way in curtailing the activities of the men of the underworld and will not give other well meaning citizens who are always victims of this act the power to deal with offenders, e.g “JUNGLE JUSTICE” to practice.

On why the case of Car Battery theft is rather rampant, most citizens attribute it to idleness and lack of Government intervention in terms of job employment and employment. A situation when addressed will stop or reduce the theft to its nearest minimum.

Just as there is a law on rape and kidnap, thieves generally should be made to face the full wrath of the law as many citizens suggested that dead penalty should be the reward of Car Battery theft.

However Car owners are equally advised to be on alert and know where to park their automobile either in the day time or through the night”. Mr Gyang concluded.
