Director General, Micro Finance Agency H Gutap said the Plateau State Government has secured 75 hectares of Land to empower Youths on Rice production saying his agency will continue to key into programs aiming towards alleviating poverty in the State.

Mr. Gutap disclosed this during a training session to educate Farmers on crop/weed control anchored by a US based company, spring field Agro control, which specializes in providing total solution to farmers. The training took place at FADAMA 3 project office Dogon Dutse in Jos.

On his part technical manager of Springfield Agro Ltd, Mano Hanas said the herbicides offers post emergence control on small weeds and prevents growth competition during critical period of rice planting saying the herbicides will help Farmers have more yield.

On his part, the State project Coordinator FADAMA 3 Gideon Dandam said the FADAMA 3 additional financing 1 and 2are targeted at easing the suffering of Farmers in the state.

Considering the N1Billion spent on importation of rice in Nigeria annually, if such programs are reciprocated across the country, it will go a long way in boosting the economy of the country.
