The Plateau state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ms Felicia Anslem confirmed the incident and stated “Yes, we are aware of an attack in parts of Barkin Ladi Local Government. The attack occurred at about 1:00 am today, but I cannot tell you the number of victims affected now. Some persons died, while others were injured. Our men have been deployed there to arrest the situation”.

Anslem said that the injured were taken to a nearby hospital. The caretaker administrator of Barkin Ladi LGA, Mr Habila Dung said that the attacks are indeed sad and barbaric. He said “Thirteen were killed including nine children, two women and two men. Five injured people are currently receiving treatment in the hospital”.

It will be recalled that ViewPointNigeria reported of earlier attacks in Barkin Ladi and Riyon LGAs of the state prominent of which was the Shonong attacks of January where over 30 persons were killed. The security operatives are yet to arrest and prosecute any of the perpetrators who continue in this cycle of bloodbaths.
