Five persons have been reported killed near a bridge on Gero road of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau. The Plateau state police command confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday night.
Felicia Anselm who is the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that no arrest has been made so far but that the command has commenced investigation to arrest the perpetrators. She stated that it was only two people who were killed while some others injured. She said “The incident was reported to us early hours of Tuesday. The attack occurred last night; the people were attacked by unknown persons. Troops have been deployed to the scene to the scene and have commenced investigations into the killings.”

Inhabitants of the area refuted the police claims and stated that it was five people who lost their lives. A relation of one of the deceased stated that the victims were in their mid-30s and were returning from a political meeting in a nearby settlement. He said “Two of the victims are Berom people, then the other three are Irigwe speaking nationals of Bassa, they were returning from political meeting concerning next Tuesday local government elections.”
The resident further said that remains of the victims were discovered mutilated and have been buried.
