Residents of West of Mines, a popular community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, have condemned the alleged stabbing death of 25-year-old Pokyes Danladi by one Victor Oluwole who described as a ”fake soldier”.

The incident reportedly happened on Sunday night at a popular drinking joint in West of Mines, which residents regard as the city’s red light district.

After the stabbing, Danladi was said to have bled to death and doctors at Binghan Hospital battled in vain to assist him.

The death has reportedly shocked Pokyes’ mother, Mrs. Martha Danladi, a former councillor in Jos North Local Government Area. She is currently on admission at the Nigeria Police Clinic in Jos.

Pokye’s dad, Dakuru Danladi, confirmed his wife’s hospitalisation.

Said to be the ‘baby of the house,’ Pokyes was said to be seeking admission to the university.

Although the suspect has been arrested by the security agencies, our correspondent learnt that the community has been gripped with fear because of speculations that his friends might regroup and cause more havoc.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Tyopev Terna, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the murder; saying the suspect had confessed to the crime, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Danladi demanded an investigation of the murder, calling on the government to ensure that justice was done in this matter.
