News available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that six people have been arrested in Pankshin for killing a mother and her daughter.

Mr Tyopev Terver, the Plateau Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed this incident on Thursday. He said, “We are investigating the case; two of the suspects have already confessed to committing the crime.

“The Criminal Investigation Department is currently handling the matter; as soon as we are through with our investigation, we shall charge the suspects to court,” he added.

ViewPointNigeria gathered that the issue began in November 2016 when a girl in Kot village took ill and was reported to have repeatedly mentioned the name of the husband of the deceased.

Speaking with one of the sources, He said, “When the girl eventually died, the man was accused of killing her through witchcraft was made to carry the corpse of the girl to the grave after which he was banished from the village. He felt he was wrongly accused so he took the case to court, where the matter is still ongoing.”

The source further said that when the issue was reported to the Police, they took action immediately and arrested the six people who were linked to the incident.

Terver said they have gone very far in their investigations and they shall find the perpetrators of the crime.

He warned Nigerians against taking the law into their hands, and advised aggrieved persons to approach the Police.
