A Plateau state born teenager, Miss Lizzy Pam has won the title in tennis’ singles event at the on-going National Youth Games (NYG) in Abuja. After winning her title match, Plateau State tennis player Pam asserted that Venus and Serena Williams inspired her to win the final match.

Pam who is a 15-year-old student of Culford Secondary School beat Sarah Adegoke of Oyo State in the title match in the singles event. She won in straight set of 6-2, 7-5 in the female tennis final.

She was quoted saying, “It was my mum that got me attracted to the William sisters and ever since, I have been so used to watching their games. My sister was the first to be attracted to them; I only started watching their games few years ago.”

The singles winner further added that her aim is to become a professional tennis player like Victoria Azarenka or Serena Williams. “I hope to be up to their standard one day,” she said.
