Berom Community Association of Nigeria, (BECA) in Abuja on Monday donated relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and communities affected by insurgency worth N4m.
Speaking,during the inauguration of the new exco of BECA,outgoing president of the association, Engr Markus Choji,pleaded with the government to include Plateau State as a beneficiary of the federal government’s special intervention fund, headed by Gen. TY Danjuma.
He said:The outgoing EXCO championed donations of relief materials to IDPs at Shonong, Jol, Bangai in Riyom L. G. A., Sho, Fan, Gassa & Ropp in Barkin-Ladi and Vwang, Dangyel, kuru in Jos South Local Government Area, targeted at Communities affected by insurgency at the cost is estimated at N4m.
According to him, his administration shared ideas and contributed on national issues with a position paper to the National Conference which covered popular views of the people.
He added that BECA kicked against creation of grazing land which will deny farmers of their possessions, but however, suggested cattle ranching as implemented in other civilized societies amongst other issues.
He pointed out that respective authorities should be held responsible for any killing of Berom or non-Berom
The group is also seeking an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari, to further intimate him on the need for close monitoring of activities of the Joint Task Force in Plateau to nip in the bud trouble makers within and outside Berom Land.
They also called for speedy execution of the Jos Master Plan to curb population congestions and environmental degradation was requested.
“Speedy completion of Phase 2 road networks passing through towns/Villages and the inter-local government networks.
“We refer to road networks from Hoss through Rim to Gwol, Hoss through Shonong and Jol to Gwol, Farin Lamba ( Dahwol Tyang) through Wereng and Kwi to Heipang, Fan through Ropp to Gwol, Foron to Maijuju and Shen, Vwang to Miango.
“Opening of road projects in crisis prone areas like Rim through Gashesh to Bokkos and Vwang through Kogom and Chagarum to Dangyel will address some security and economic challenges. This development will open up the affected areas to businesses and reduce insurgency tendencies.
“Investment into NESCO with the view to open up commercial activities and development within nearby Communities, Local Government Areas and Plateau State was suggested”, He added.
