A new Commissioner of Police has taken charge of the Plateau State Command, its spokesman, ASP Terna Tyopev, said in a statement on Friday.
Tyopev said the new commissioner, Peter Ogunyanwo, was deployed to take over from Adekunle Olagunjoye, who has been moved to another location.
He said before his new appointment, Ogunyanwo was Commissioner in Bayelsa State and later Commissioner in Charge of Police Mobile Force at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to him, Ogunyawo, an indigene of Ogun State, joined the Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent in May 1986.
Tyopev said: “He is a member of some international and well revered organisations, including International Association of Chiefs of Police and National Organisation of Black Law Enforcement Executives.”
The spokesman said the new Commissioner holds a Bachelors degree in History and Archaeology from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and is a Fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja.
