Former members of the Plateau state house of assembly have made an appeal to the Plateau state Governor Da Jonah Jang to pay them their outstanding salaries totalling N22 million. Six former members and three current members of the assembly who were affected stated that their salaries were stopped when they decamped to Labour Party (LP) in 2011.

The lawmakers through a letter sent to the state Governor dated 25th Feb 2013 stated “We wish to appeal for the payment of our outstanding salaries from January 2011 to May 2011 as members of the 6th Assembly of Plateau State House of Assembly amounting to N22,944,931.65.”

They added “The governor will recall that this became pertinent when the undersigned nine members of the 6th Assembly of the Plateau State House of Assembly had cause to defect from the PDP to the Labour party in December 2010, following which the PDP in Plateau state constituted legal action against us at the state High Court in January 2011, and at the same time stopped our salaries as a result of the defection.”
