The Plateau State government has acquired a N10 billion infrastructure loan from the federal government to enable her complete some road projects in the state.
The state governor, Simon Lalong, disclosed this on Sunday while inspecting uncompleted road projects in Jos city metropolis.
Accompanied by Sunday Hyat, Permanent Secretary of the state’s Ministry of Works, Lalong assured residents of the state that the government will prudently utilize the loan to complete all abandoned road projects.
The governor also visited the Secretariat Junction where he inspected the yet-to-be completed flyover bridge being constructed by PW, a construction firm. It was further learnt that the firm has been paid N1.7 billion from the loan to resume work on the project.
Other abandoned road projects include the four federal roads that passed through the state which the previous Jonah Jang-led administration intervened in their reconstruction.
Among them is the N10.5 billion Mararaba-Jama’a-Secretariat Junction federal highway, which reconstruction reached appreciable levels with the provision of a flyover at the Secretariat Junction in the city.
Hyat confirmed that the state had intervened in the four federal owned roads to the tune of over N20 billion with only about N1.2 billion released by the FG as re-embossment to the state.
He said the federal government still owes the state a balance of over N18.8 billion.
