The Police in Jigawa State have arrested a man for alleged gun-running and three others for robbery.

Parading the suspects in Dutse, the state Commissioner of Police, Usman Tilli Abubakar, said one Ema Gwadal, 37, was arrested during a stop and search operation by the patrol team of the command along Birnin Kudu/Babaldu road.

He said while searching their vehicle, one of the occupants from Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State suddenly became nervous and took to his heels but was later apprehended.
He added that when the suspect’s luggage was searched, two locally made revolver pistols and 10 rounds of live ammunition were found in it and that he confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The police boss further added that Gwadal told them that he was carrying the weapons from Plateau State to one Sylvester Gofwen in Jigawa State and that the said Gofwen had since been arrested.

He added that policemen on patrol in Kazaure LGA of the state arrested one Haruna Illiya, 45, of Fagge Quarters in Kano State on suspicion he had stolen the motorcycle he was riding because upon interrogation, he could not give satisfactory explanation on how he came about it.

He said during investigation, the suspects confessed to motorcycle snatching in Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna states.

The CP also stated that the police in the state had smashed a gang of thieves who used motorcycle to snatch money from people at ATM points.
