A car thief and his accomplices met their waterloo yesterday in Jos, when the vigilance of several people in JUTH, where they tried to snatch a car was thwarted.
The main suspect, a man in his 60s, used a master key to access a vehicle parked in the main parking area of the hospital and tried to escape with it through gate IV, but the swift response of several people in the area meant the culprit was blocked on his tracks before he could exit.
He was severely beaten and a few of his accomplices were identified.
It will be recalled that ViewPointNigeria has reported of an increase in car theft and snatching in the state in the past few months, with several car snatching syndicates said to be in operation in Jos South and Jos North areas particularly.
Analysis from ViewPointNigeria’s database shows that every week in Jos, an average of two cars have been stolen or snatched at gun point for the past 6 months.
