Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong has described the death of Late Long Goemai of Shendam, Miskoom Hubert Shaldas II as a loss to the entire state.
The governor stated this in a condolence message to the family over the death of the late monarch, which sad event occurred recently.
In the message signed by director Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Samuel Emmanuel Nanle, the governor said the Late Long Goemai has contributed immensely to the maintenance of peace and mutual coexistence not only to the many ethnic groups resident in his domain but to the sustenance of peace in the entire state.
He noted that the Late Long Goemai who until his death was the deputy chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs has left indelible prints in the sands of time as exemplified in his years of military service and the over 28 years of his reign as the paramount ruler of the Goemai nation.
Governor Lalong added that his people, Plateau State and the nation at large will miss his wealth of experience and good counsel.
The governor prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest even as he extended the condolence of his family, government and people of Plateau State to the monarch’s family, Shendam Traditional Council, Shendam local government council, Plateau State Traditional Council and the Goemai nation.
