The Executive Secretary, Plateau State Pension Board, Mr Lohfa Dashe has indicated that  approximately 50% of retired civil servants in Nigeria develop stroke related diseases after retirement due to non regular payment of gratuity and pensions by states.
Barr. Dashe told newsmen that out of 7,649 recent civil servants who retired from service in 2017, about 50 of them have already been paralyzed with stroke while waiting their gratuity/allowances from PLSG.
Commenting on whether Plateau State Government has released Paris Club funds for their pension payment, Barr. Lohfa Dashe explained that no funds have yet been released – but expressed optimism that this will happen soon.
Speaking, he said pensioners have been somewhat unfair to Barr. Simon lalong because he has been excellent in pension payments. He said, “Governor Lalong promised using the Paris Club funds to settle outstanding pension arrears and he has been true to his pledge.
“We have tried our very best in view of the recession. Honestly speaking, the pensioners are not fair to Lalong. We have cleared all the monthly payments of schedule between 25th to 26th in the state,” he noted.
Dashe appealed to pensioners to exercise patience with the government of Barr Lalong, as resources are currently incredibly lean.
