Twenty seven persons have been reported killed in two communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau state.
The Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Mr Emmanuel Loman said that Fulani herdsmen without provocation attacked Ninji village and shot seven people before rustling cattle from the community.
He added that they then stormed Ropp, a nearby village and killed 20 persons. He said “As I speak to you now, I am at the mass burial of our 27 people massacred by the Fulani and their mercenaries,”.
Loman said that the act was done by Fulanis who live in the communities and aided by mercenaries and terrorists. He said that the attackers want to make Barkin Ladi another Sambisa forest at all cost and called on security operatives to be proactive as the situation is getting out of hand.
Reacting to the incident, the Plateau state police Pubic Relation Officer spokesman Abuh Emmanuel stated that only six people were killed.
