Politics in Plateau is experiencing a generational shift, as youth are now getting involved in record numbers. Aside activism on social media (i.e., MOPPLAH, Plateau Intelligentsia, Jtownperspectives etc), several youth have bitten the bullet and are taking a plunge into political waters, by aspiring for political offices. Several of these youth, whom hitherto did not care much about politics have woken-up in political consciousness and are taking over from the old brigade of politicians who have ruled the nation since inception.
It is in the light of this new political awakening that a group of youth under the aegis of ViewPointNigeria, Plateau Intelligentsia and Movement for the Protection of Plateau Heritage (MOPPLAH), have come together to organise gubernatorial debates, with the view of bringing the manifestos of aspirants closer to the electorate. The aim of the debate is to introduce respective flag bearers of each party to Plateau voters, along with their plans and programmes.

The planning of the debate has already reached advanced stages, with the main structure, content and format of the debate finalised. Various fund raising events for youthful donors have also been undertaken in respective social media platforms in order to make the debate participatory/youth focused as opposed to being politically hijacked by politicians who may wish to sponsor it. At present, several youth have generously contributed to the debate and more people are still encouraged to give -as no contribution is too small.
To this extend, organisers of the debates crave the indulgence of Plateau citizens to support the initiative, through ideas, promotions or otherwise. Details of how to get involved in the debate programme can be found at social media groups including Movement for the Protection of Plateau Heritage (MOPPLAH) and Plateau Intelligentsia.
………watch-out as firm dates for the debate is announced.
