As clandestine and covert political moves and alliances continue to be made on the Plateau ahead of the 2015 polls, reports reaching ViewPointNigeria suggest that a former speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly and member representing Pankshin South constituency Rt. Hon. Istifanus Caleb Mwansat may be eyeing the Plateau Central Senatorial seat.

A source who craved annonymity (in a chat with ViewPointNigeria’s correspondent), revealed to our correspondent in Jos that political structures are already being put on ground to make sure the idea is actualised. When asked under what party he’d be running; the source stated that if he eventually runs, he’d run under the platform of the PDP to replace the incumbent, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye (who won the election under the LP platform). Quized whether the ambivalent and popular incumbent (Senator Joshua Dariye) may not return to the PDP ahead of the elections, the source averred that whether he did or not, it would be an open race and was confident of Mwansat’s chances. Asked if he was jittery over Dariye’s influence and political strength, the source said ‘Dariye is a normal human being just as we all are. Politics is a game of numbers and I assure you we’ve started mobilizing and we cannot jitter.
