Chika Chukuwumerijie, a one time Olympic bronze medallist in taekwondo was in Jos to train over 100 kids with the aim of making the game popular. His Chika Chukwumerijie Sports Foundation (CCSF) was set up to train young people across the country and was in Jos for the second exercise after the maiden launch in Abuja last month.

The kids between the ages of four and fourteen were enthusiastic about the programme sponsored by the grassroots sports department of the National Sports Commission (NSC) which was held at the Crest Hotel. The parents and guardians who accompanied the kids to the exercise were excited with the programme as it will engage their wards against negative vices.

Williams who is a nine year old pupil of First Baptist Model School said he was able to acquire skills in taekwondo and socialise with other pupils. He further said “I now know how to defend myself and one thing that interests me in the training was that it was full of fun”.
