In view of the raging grazing policy debate on the Plateau, Mr. John Pofi – founder of the John Pofi Foundation has moved to streamline the discourse and create meaningful debate.

In partnership an ICT organisation in Plateau, Mr Pofi has created a hastag and twitter handle through which comments, thoughts and questions about the grazing policy debate can be synchronised.

In a press release to ViewPointNigeria – Mr Pofi highlighted the divide between people who stand for and against the policy and averred that the best way to engage in meaningful social media debate is to synchronise the different thoughts through functional social media platforms.

Below are excerpts from his press release.

================================================================================

In finding a solution to the incessant attacks by herdsmen in Plateau, Governor Simon Lalong in his democracy day address said “the grazing reserve policy is designed in a way that it places where grazing routes or ranches are established, government takes for those who will want to keep animals, through which the central bank of Nigeria would release funds to train and assist youths both Fulani and non Fulani alike, to be able to carter for the animals”.

Lalong appealed to people of the state to key into the grazing reserve bill and stand the benefit the gains therein, adding that it will in no small measure turn around their fortunes.

The above statements by the governor have been kicked against in several quarters while others view it a welcome development.

We (the John Pofi Foundation) as champions of democracy, social governance and youth advocacy wish to streamline the debate in this regard, by providing viable Platforms through which meaningful debate and discourse can be actualized.

Please make your contributions on facebook or twitter via the hashtag: #Plateaugrazingreservesbill.
