Da Jonah Jang, the Plateau State Governor has described the decision by president Goodluck Jonathan to impose a state of emergency in three Northern states as applaudable.

He made the assertion while speaking to newmen on arrival at Jos airport, having been away on a three-week foreign trip. Jang said “the president is better placed on the true security situation of the country, being the chief security officer and has acted in the interest of all citizens. He further stated that “without peace, there is no way Nigeria could enjoy the patronage of investors. Peace is a prerequisite for investment, development and growth.

He said himself and his entourage had just returned from an investment summit in Canada which was aimed at attracting foreign investors and averred that peace had to be in place for the trip to yield fruits, saying “without peace, no one will come and invest here.”

He therefore said that the state of emergency declaration was a welcome development, especially as the democratic and political institutions/structures were still in place.

Jang was among several governors who accompanied Vice-President Namadi Sambo to Canada for the investment summit.
